Perry Martin, M.Ed., Ph.D.

img Perry has been a practicing psychotherapist since 1977, when she was licensed as a marriage and family therapist. She was trained in Gestalt group work, family therapy with Virginia Satir, and grief work with Elisabeth Kubler-Ross. Aware of the deep connections of emotions in the body, she trained with Ilana Rubenfeld to develop her skills in listening touch.

For many years she led ongoing women's groups in Pennsylvania, where she had an active practice with individuals and couples, and led many workshops. She has a particular interest in working with dreams, art therapy, and Proprioceptive Writing, a meditative writing practice.

Perry is alive and well, and doesn't settle for setting limits on what we can do in life. Towards that end, in 2005 she moved to Chapel Hill to be with a new partner, and was joined with him in a Quaker ceremony the following year. Currently she sees clients and co-leads a women's group in Chapel Hill.

"When you come home to yourself, your consciousness returns to your body where your mind resides; you discover your inner wisdom and remember then that you are one."
